Cultural Heritage

If you’re looking for an environment where your students can learn first hand about the indigenous and European history of Australia - Port Stephens and the surrounding region has a myriad of opportunities.

Learn about Australia’s early history through interpretive guided tours in the region’s National Parks. Try the Bush Tucker and Indigenous tour on the Tilligerry Peninsula, where students can taste some native plants, learn to throw a boomerang and even get a few pointers on playing the didgeridoo.

Port Stephens is also home to many historical buildings from Australia’s early pioneering days, such as Tanilba and Tomago houses. The area also played a key role during World War 2, and a great deal of evidence can still be accessed today - from huge gun emplacements & bunkers, to other forms of infrastructure such as housing.
